THIS IS NOT THE END, BUT ONLY THE BEGINNING OF BIGGER THINGS TO COME. THIS CONCEPT WILL GROW AND CONTINUE TO TAKE THE SPIRIT OF ‘OHANA AND ALOHA THROUGHOUT THE WORLD . . .

Mission of Aloha

 The ‘Ohana Returns

All of Hawai'i, especially the community of Waimanalo, should be proud of the efforts of He 'Ohana Makou. What started off as a backyard idea, turned into one of the most beautiful experiences of a lifetime. Members of He 'Ohana Makou, We Are Family became the talk of the entire 26th Annual Northwest Folklife Festival. We performed in front of packed audiences and our message of 'Ohana and Aloha touched the lives of everyone in attendance. Transplanted Hawaiians and Hawaiians at heart were moved to tears when they witnessed a program filled with Hawaiian Music and Hula. There wasn’t a dry eye in the audience when the POWER of family surrounded them. From our very first intimate performance at Borders Books & Music in Tacoma, Washington, to the thousands at Folklife, to the Muckleshoot Indian Reservation in Auburn, Washington and the Tsartlip First Nation on Vancouver Island, B. C., we received standing ovations.
When He 'Ohana Makou began our fund-raising campaign, we wrote to both the State of Hawai'i and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. We never received a response from either one. We knew then we were on our own.
But, with the support of our community, family and friends, we pulled off one of the most positive, emotional, entertaining, and thought provoking shows Hawai'i has ever exported. Our cause was pure and our reception was genuine.
Mahalo a nui loa to the people of Hawai'i for making it all possible.

New 'Ohana Members

When you give Aloha, you will receive Aloha. During our visit, we met people that practice the Aloha Spirit away from Hawai'i. People like Ed Tanaka, formerly of Maunawili, wife Mona and son Brent. Sonny & Vera Miller of Muckleshoot. Ray & Jan Mau of Victoria, Freida Cooper of the Tsartlip First Nation. Kathy & Tsarkie of Palolo. Harvey Cohen of Hale'iwa. And Faddah of Bremerton, WA.

Mahalo Plenty

He 'Ohana Makou extends a warm Mahalo to the many supporters (listed on the left) of our Mission of Aloha. To all the nurseries of Waimanalo that answered our call for plants and flowers. To all the people that attended our Festival on May 17th at the Waimanalo Health Center. To James Kodama of Island Snow, who at the last minute made a generous donation of tee shirts. To Charley Young of The Family Shop who worked late and made sure that our He 'Ohana Mäkou Tee shirts were ready and Mahalo Ke Akua for guiding our hearts and watching over us.
From the Armstrong, Azevedo, Fischer, Kahiapo, 'Opiopio and the Wong Families, we send our Love & Aloha.
